There is an intuitive calculation almost everyone makes that usually backfires: sleeping less by day does not make a baby sleep better at night. A baby who gets through the day without the naps they need arrives at night exhausted and wired at the same time, fights sleep harder and wakes more often. Naps have a job of their own and deserve to be treated as an appointment, not a pause that happens if there is time left.

Day 7 brings the map of how many naps by age, explains the transitions from three to two and from two to one, and devotes a whole chapter to naps that are too short, pointing to the app's nap history so you can compare.

What you'll learn in the 3 chapters

  1. 1

    A nap isn't a luxury, it's a need

You will understand what happens to a baby who skips naps, why daytime sleep is not a warm-up for the night, and how to choose which naps to protect.

  2. 2

    How many naps by age

This chapter presents the general ranges from the first three months to the end of napping, and shows why the transitions, which take weeks of mixed patterns, matter more than the numbers.

  3. 3

Naps that are too short: what to try

Here you understand the 30-to-45-minute nap as a cycle that did not link up, in which phases that is expected, and the one-item-at-a-time check of window, environment, hunger and diaper.
